Finish Your Draft

Advanced | Fiction
A natural continuation for graduates of 'Writing A Novel', or a great support group for writers who need to really get their head down and get to the end, this weekly six-month course is all about reaching your goal.
This course is selective, so you`ll need to apply. For more information, click here.

The application deadline was
19th September 2018

Constructive feedback in a supportive, stretching environment with a brilliant tutor is the absolute core of the Faber Academy experience. This course offers just that. Four weekly peer presentations and regular one-to-ones. No guests, no readings, no writing exercises: just you and 11 fellow students getting down to business and finishing a draft of your novel, getting valuable feedback on your work every three weeks. And there is no one better placed to lead you than Gillian Slovo, a hugely experienced tutor and acclaimed writer of 13 novels, a celebrated memoir and several plays.

If you're looking for honest answers to difficult questions – "does this work?", "am I on the right track?", "what do you think I'm getting at here?" – then why not apply today to join Gillian and a group of dedicated fellow novelists for six months of hard, rewarding work?

Applying is easy. Simply click 'Apply Now' at the bottom of this screen, login to your account (or create a new one) and you'll be asked to upload up to three documents. As it happens, we only need two: what you have of your manuscript so far and a cover letter of no more than a page, detailing where you're coming from writing-wise, what it is you're writing about, and what you're hoping to get out of the course. Make sure you get that done before midnight on the day listed below. Any questions, get in touch.
