Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Does Faber Academy offer courses online?

In March 2012, Faber Academy launched its Online Academy. At present, we offer a 28-week online version of our flagship 'Writing A Novel' course (check our Courses page for upcoming dates). We hope to offer more online courses in future - please sign up for our newsletter here for keep up to date on news of these.

Q. Can anyone sign up for a Faber Academy course?

The majority of Faber Academy courses are non-selective - anyone can sign up if they think the course is right for them. However, we would advise that you think carefully and read all the course details before paying your deposit. If you have any questions about a course, please feel free to contact us.

The two exceptions to this are our six-month Writing A Novel course, and six-month Becoming A Poet course. These two courses are selective - that is, you must send in an application by a given deadline, and wait to hear if you are offered a place on the course. This selection is made by the Course Directors, with the help of Faber Academy staff, and their decision is final.

Q. I've missed the application deadline for a course - can I still apply?

It's always worth checking if there's still time to submit a late application. In certain situations, our Course Directors will consider late applications, so please do give us a call or email us.

Q. If I take a Faber Academy course, will Faber consider my book for publication?

Although the Faber Academy is run by Faber and Faber publishers, admission to any of our courses does not guarantee publication by them or any other publisher. Faber's usual submission rules still apply.

Q. How can I contact a Faber Academy tutor?

We cannot give out tutors' contact details, including email addresses, but we will be happy to forward correspondence to them or to their agent. As we are not always in email contact, we prefer that correspondence is put in writing and addressed to:

'Tutor'
c/o Faber Academy
Bloomsbury House
74-77 Great Russell Street
London WC1B 3DA
UNITED KINGDOM

For enquiries about Faber authors, please contact the Faber Publicity Department.

Q. Are courses at Faber Academy wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, due to fire safety regulations, Faber Academy is unable to accomodate wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties on its courses at present. Any queries should be addressed to Sian Evans, Facilities Manager at Faber and Faber.
