Have you often thought about writing fiction, but don't know where to begin? Do you have lots of stories you want to tell, but can't seem to translate them into words on the page? Over the course of three days, discover the tools you need to start writing and learn the basics of fiction, from creating memorable characters to finding an authorial voice; plotting your story to making full use of your setting, with acclaimed novelist Kamila Shamsie.
Each day will be broken down into focused themed workshops, filled with practical exercises, lively discussion and advice on how to keep going when you get stuck, and there will also be a guest workshop on Saturday afternoon, led by award-winning author Louise Doughty.
By the end of the weekend, you will have produced several examples of new writing and should come away ready to start on a short story or take the first steps towards writing a novel - plus ideas about what to do with any old pieces of writing which aren't quite working but which you don't want to scrap.
There are 15 places on this course. The course costs £425.
